Rejections

Rejections suck. We know this and we love the agents anyway; their job is hard, and often made harder by those they're there to potentially represent, but man is it heartbreaking every time just the same. We authors put our heart and soul into our work, refine it and tend it for years, and it's judged and rejected in a span of (I'm guessing) fifteen minutes. Ouch. I think it's the dichotomy that stings, how badly we believe in something, and how much a rejection goes opposite that belief.

I always tend to slow down when I get rejections. I go and do other things and try to forget for awhile. I often think I'm not cut out for this work.

Rejected for The Tobias Literary Agency and Talcott Notch Literary Services. My best to the agents at both.

One agent actually gave me a modicum of feedback in that they provided a reason for the rejection. I'm always grateful for this, but never reply or push. They're busy people, and I've seen enough twitter posts to know that many replies are along the lines of "Well you're stupid/wrong and here is why and you'll rue the day and...." Bleh. Just sending a reply to a rejection probably puts them on red alert, and I'd rather not add to the world's stress.

The feedback was that the first pages weren't gripping enough, so I'll have to get some additional beta readers to help I suppose.
